I spend a lot of time on this site focusing on the advantages of San Carlos. I have had a few people email me and agree with those sentiments, but also allude to the fact that it does have its disadvantages as well. Some of the criticism San Carlos receives is valid: lack of a San Carlos high school, lack of diversity and it can be slightly claustrophobic.
However, the most intense criticism that I receive from those who live here is that San Carlos is too small….not geographically speaking, but the fact that everyone seems to know everyone else’s business. Anyone living here for any length of time knows exactly what I am talking about. Having a close community is great, but is it too close? I have asked very few open-ended questions on this site, but this topic is all about community input.

I’m so glad someone has finally said it!
I dearly love San Carlos, but it is frustrating to consider my personal/family issues circulating through the community. Not to say that I’m never guilty of passing along the occasional piece of gossip, but we should all be more aware of what comes out of our mouths.
I’ll share a quote that comes to mind: “Small minds discuss people. Mediocre minds discuss events. Great minds discuss ideas.”
Ha! I have lived here for 20 years. Its always nice when your neighbor knows what is happening in your life before you do.
